Sacramento State's women's soccer team defeated Idaho State University 2-0 Sunday afternoon in its sixth conference game of the season.

With the win the Hornets improve to 3-2-1 in the Big Sky Conference.

"We came out hard right away and never really took our foot off the gas," head coach Randy Dedini said.

Junior midfielder Cori Shreve started off the Hornets' first attack by getting a shot off on a Sac State corner kick. The Hornets got five more shots before, senior forward Kim Kemper scored her first goal of the season on a pass to the middle of the box from sophomore defender Shea Roberts.

"It was exciting to finally get it into the back of the net. I've had so many chances," Kemper said. "We all knew we had to win this game, so we were all on top of it."

Sac State's women's soccer team kept Idaho State to three shots in the first half, while out shooting the Bengals by five. The women's team continued strong defense by keeping Idaho State to four shots in the second half.

The Hornets scored a second goal when senior midfielder Katelin Hopping shot a free kick straight into the left corner of the net after she was fouled by an Idaho State player.

Idaho State got two more shots before the end of the second half, but were unable to score.

Next, the Hornets play Portland State in their last conference match up before the Big Sky Tournament.
