Republicans protest global warming film

Abstract:
A group of 12 College Republicans protested UNIQUE's 7 p.m. screening of "An Inconvenient Truth" in the lobby of the University Union on Thursday, marking the end of Constitution Week at Sacramento State.

The group held signs that mocked Al Gore and questioned what the film had to do with Constitution Week, as the film, "The Great Global Warming Swindle," by Martin Durkin, was projected on a nearby wall. ...

There were more than 20 College Republicans who came out to protest the showing of "An Inconvenient Truth". Photos are available at our official website www.sacstate.collegegop.org.

Also, the press release, entitled "Sacramento State celebrates Constitution's 220th anniversary", was posted on the Sac State website on Sept. 6.

http://www.csus.edu/news/090607Constitution.stm

Although the official Constitution Week was Sept. 17-21, the movie's showing was included on the schedule of events in the press release. Since it was on the official document, we inferred the movie was part of the Constitution celebration.

UNIQUE may not be required to observe Constitution Week, but the school they work for is. And UNIQUE was listed as a sponsor, among other groups, of the activities for Constitution Week in the press release.

The College Republicans meet Thursdays at 6 p.m. in the student union. We'd be happy to discuss this matter further with interested parties.

Yeah, this article isn't biased toward the left at all. I dare say that most of us CRs have, indeed, seen Al Gore's film, which is exactly how we know it has absolutely nothing to do with the Constitution. This just seems like a no brainer to me...Also, College Republicans don't create "ploys" to "grab attention." However, universities apparently play irrelevant films promoting the leftist agenda during Constitution Day...would that be considered a "ploy?"

I already replied on what I think and the college democrats know this.

The fact is no matter how you look at it:

VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE IS PRESENTING AN ARGUMENT.

It makes democrats look good, while it discredits Republicans hard work on the issue.

My response to this culture is on the

So look it up.

P.S. Since they are liberals they may remove it.

1. This event did not take place during Constitution Week.

2. If global climate change is happening, it is the largest problem that mankind has faced, and the one that threatens us most.

3. Global climate change is happening.

4. To solve the problem will take a global effort, which includes a concerted polypartisan effort. The problem at its simplest is this: we are unearthing too much energy into a a system that wasn't designed to handle it. The solution, without divulging into the complexities of the situation, is to curb our dependence on energy that comes from sources external to a stable environment.

The problem is that people use (relatively) meaningless points like 1. to ignore the existence of 3. so that 2. is fazed out, making 4. nothing more than the pipe dreams of suited, endoctrinated buffoons.

A signature conflict with us postmodern born: there's no compass to guide us to meaningful argument, so every argument becomes a last stand. There is no cultural roadmap we can all agree upon: defining the location of a landmark or the way in which the river bends becomes a topic podium worthy.

Myself included. My argument is not helping. But I feel like I won. Isn't that the important thing?

I'm gone watch a film an' get an education. Better bring tha' boxing gloves. Com'an get me some.

As it was mentioned in the article, Global Warming is not a issue of democratic or republic significance. It is an issue that faces us all today and it is reality. UNIQUE is an organization that is not bi-partisan in any shape or form, it is organization solely built to bring entertainment to campus and as mentioned Constitution Week was the week prior to the movie and the movie.
