First of all, you should clearly describe your column within the first couple of sentences. It was totally unclear what your column was about until about halfway down. Even in opinion articles, this is a journalism MUST.

But your point... so, let me get this straight, our driving habits should revolve around our culture? So - you SHOULD be allowed to drive and text? I'm sorry - I dont know a single person (including my texting-self) who can drive and text at the same time. It isnt safe... period.

Now, I know from reading your other columns, that you think you're too cool for school. One day you'll learn your lesson for reckless driving - hopefully no one will suffer!

Are you kidding me with this article? YOU are what is wrong with today's society--you feel entitled and you are so damned self-centered and self-absorbed that you can't wait to get to your destination to check your phone? Get over yourself.

Cars were made for driving. Not eating, drinking, putting makeup on, talking on the phone, texting, reading (yes, I've seen that too), flossing, or anything else. Keep your eyes on the road.

And it didn't take text messaging to drop your IQ ten points--I'm sure you were already there before text messaging was even an option on cell phones.

State Republicans got it right, this bill is OVERKILL, State Senate Bill 28, that the governor signed prohibits text messaging, but allows surfing the internet on your phone. And The prior law which I feel is completly Unjust that requires hands-free, allows you to dial a number and talk on blue tooth.

So Explain how Law Enforcement can enforce this new bill. It's simple they can't.

If you get pulled over you can simple claim you were dialing or surfing the internet. This bill is OverKill and I thank all the Republicans in the State Senate who opposed this bill and the one Democrat also.

This bill, now law is unneeded most everyone knows its somewhat unsafe, but its our choice. A vehicle is like your home, you should be able to do what you please, within restraints. The only reason these two bill passed was because WE THE PEOPLE had no say and it was backed by the corporate lobbyist of the Cellphone Companys, and Auto Insurance CO.

This will not stand with me, I suggest you do as I and clean house so our politicians, understand who, are the deciders.

These hateful and ridiculous comments are ludicrous. This article was humorous and real. It's obvious that neither of you were able to pick up on the embellished societal point of view this author took. If all you got from this article was that the author is self-centered, then it is very clear to me the real person missing more than a few IQ points. You are not capable of picking up on the point this author was trying to make...using herself in an exaggerated manner to describe how society creates very self-centered individuals. Of course driving while texting is a bad idea....but will society stop???? NO!!! This is what the author was trying to get across. Read it again. I thought this piece was well-written and a joy to read.

I agree with Natasha. I think the author presents some good points and does it with humor. This law is ridiculous because people will still find ways to get around it. How is an officer going to see if you're texting with one hand in your lap? Exactly.

The new law was meant as a threat. It's not supposed to really be enforced. It's a good law and this article is stupid if its serious.
