Television anchor talks about God

Abstract:
Adrienne Bankert, television anchor for KCRA 3, visited Sacramento State today to speak about her religious views at a discussion hosted by members of the International Students Christian Fellowship.

There were 10 people who attended the talk. Most were members of the club, while others were not students at Sac State....

Adrienne Bankert might have been born to Jewish parents. However, when she chose to become a Christian, she turned her back on Judaism. It is not possible to be both Jewish and Christian as they are diametrically opposing systems.

This woman has gotta be one of the bigger ditzes ever to get a job in television. She believes in imaginary beings and believes she is an imaginary Jew.God personally chauffered her to SAc State..and she thinks her mythical creator wants her to be rich..What about the poor people..the starving people right here in this very city...what does your god want for them>>???Adrienne...I know Jews and you are no jew.

To say these comments are anti-Semitic, is completely ridiculous. Those who are outraged, have taken these comments completely out of context. Did you not listen to the entirety of the presentation? Perhaps if you had any understanding of Christianity you would be aware of what she was trying to say. She was attempting to show how God's people, Christians/Jews can live successful and victorious lives. She used an example of how God has blessed Jewish people with financial freedom. Unfortunately, our society has negatively used money as a basis for stereotyping Jew's, when it is actually a sign of God's blessing.

The mind reels that someone associated with KCRA would listen impassively to such blatant ant-Semitism without comment. One can only wait to see when this "reporter" will listen, in mannequin-like fashion to those wishing that they shared African-American's rhythm or an Irish-American's drinking skill. Of course any brief search of demographic data – that which I think is occasionally known as "reporting" – Ms. Bankert would quickly discover that the income distribution of Jews pretty much mirrors that of their demographic.

Hey, wait a minute, I thought Mel Gibson owned Hollywood and he is anything but Jewish! What an embarrassment to the Sac State students that such an anti-Semitic ignorant "Christian" became their spokesman.

Be nice. That young lady made an honest mistake and she probably feels horrible. But she is no more anti-Semitic than Oprah Winfrey is president of the Rush Limbaugh fan-club. She went to motivate and inspire the student at Sac State to keep their eyes on positive things so they would have positive results in life. Don't condemn her because of her mistakes. We all have been there.

So if I believe I'm a christian, I DESERVE to get/have money. That's great! OR...If I'm Jewish, I already HAVE money. That's great, too. Then it's only the heathen muslims, buddhists, athiests, and any other "fringe" religion who must/will remain poor, unenlightened, and out of heaven for all eternity. That's REALLY great!! This woman is a sad and pathetic bigot who's sense of entitlement and superiority is insulting to real Christians.....and the rest of us. You know, us humans. That she represents a "legitimate" media outlet casts a dark shadow over that organization as well. KCRA should take an abundance of her entitled dollars away and give it to people who care or need it.

I think Adrienne is trying to let people know it's alright to want to do better and that God does want you to prosper and He will help you. He loves us and wants the best for us...every HUMAN! If you are referring to non-believers when you say the "rest of us," you should maybe just speak for yourself instead of others? Christians love the Lord, and we are also sinners, which means we are not perfect, that is why we need Him! She is human, her heart was in the right place and to say she has "cast a dark shadow" over the organization is rediculous...you sound angry and unhappy, Pray for Him to give you peace and read the Bible, He wants to know you.....and He loves you!

Where in the Bible did Jesus say "Blessed be the rich?" Ms. Bankert espouses a type of Christianity (prosperity theology) that is popular today. Unfortunately, it's not rooted in scripture nor in Christian theology or doctrine. Her remarks about those of the Jewish faith are simply ignorant and grossly insensitive despite her rationalizations. Finally, that was a pretty poor excuse for an apology.

It is horrible that Jewish college students are exposed to anti-Semitic venom on campuses today (definitely in a post 9/11/01 era where there are Israel bashers and Holocaust deniers who try to be increasingly vocal about their hate filled views). Hate does not have a place at work or on a college campus. People who deliver the news like Bankert need to think before saying something so fallacious, hurtful, and wrong about Jews or any group of people.

I was born a Jew, but I do not find AB's comments offensive in any way whatsoever.

Her comments are based on fact: In Beverly Hills, the Jews happen to be very rich!

What was STUPID (on her part) was to mouth these comments in public as a representative of KCRA Channel 3.

While the comments aren't enough to get her fired (I surely hope they don't boot her booty away....hehe),
this will probably mean that she won't get to be the "fill-in anchor" on weekends and mornings when Fitz, Wu, or Riggs are on vacation....
