First, stop parroting Big Brother nonsense: Driving is a right, not a privilege. Just as in years gone by, a person has the right to ride a horse, a carriage or a horseless carriage.

Nelly wrote, "Senior government major Katelyn Lille attested to the need for the device. Her license was revoked for a year after she was arrested on a DUI charge."

Lille wrongly views the theft of her right to drive as being legitimate; and further considers the interlock as a way around the revocation. If she had gotten a ticket for speeding, her right to drive would not have been taken. – Why should she lose her license for a DUI? If caught speeding, she would not be forced to install a speed-restricting device on her car. – Why should she have an interlock?

Furthermore, interlocks are insidious devices that are prone to showing false positives; and according to an in-depth study by the California DMV, interlocks increase the chances of a crash.

"According to the DMV, ignition interlock devices can lead to a 40-95 percent reduction in repeat offenses when combined with comprehensive monitoring." – But that's only while the interlocks are installed; once the devices are off it's back to business as usual and then some.

Nelly opined, "The ABI (American Beverage Institute) protects the interests of the restaurants it represents and does not believe these devices are a reasonable punishment for first-time offenders." – Stop and think Nelly. The ABI also indirectly represents the millions upon millions of people who frequent those restaurants.

The ABI also indirectly speaks for everyone who drives: Mandated interlocks is the first step in MADD's goal to have interlocks as standard equipment in ALL vehicles. The result would be de facto prohibition. Millions of dollars have already been spent to develop the Big Brother technology. (Maybe 'Mad Mother technology' is more appropriate. )

That's why "Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a huge proponent of the ignition interlock device." MADD is led by a radical group of prohibitionists that peddles lying propaganda to achieve its goals. Don't fall for it.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. There are driving laws we must all abide by. One of them is not to drink alcohol if you are going to drive. I personally think anyone who gets a DUI should have their drivers license taken away for at least 10 years. I also think there should be harsher penalties for people who drive too fast. Dying in a car accident is a senseless way to go.

Steve,

You also forgot to add that the Illuminati and aliens are about to take our guns away too right after they're done monitoring us at the bus stop.
