Abstract:
Imagine not being able to see and having to walk around the 300-acre Sacramento State campus. Not an easy feat for those who are blind or sight-impaired....
Yellow strips give blind people a false sense of independence. We, the blind, do not have nor do we need strips throughout American sidewalks to find our way. We need good and proper training, a long white cane or guide dog and some confidence. The bumps only make us look needy and helpless. This portrayal of blind persons, gives future employers the idea that they too will need to implant some ridiculously looking and unnecessary bumps to find their front door, which is absolutely ridiculous and untrue. Sac State, save your money for something worthwhile!
