Abstract:
Why is it that empty classrooms containing computers, which were accessible in the spring 2007 semester, are no longer available to students?...
Ms. Guerra is probably referring to the lab in the Geography department! Beware though, it is for Geography majors only as it is a GIS lab and not a come in and search the net lab.
People have abused this lab for years, it clearly states that you must be a Geography major to access the lab. And no, the lab isnt paid for by student/state fees. It is paid for by ESRI who rents the lab from the Geography department to teach GIS refresher classes to state, city, and county employees.
The Mendocino computer labs should at least be open during the computer lab rush hours. I have seen on occasion, people waiting in lines that stretch on for half hour in the library and AIRC to only print out a sheet of paper.
To compromise we should open up the Mendocino labs only during peak hours as a way to help students, alleviate traffic, and optimize administrative resources.
