An important documentary photographer has passed away. Like many documentary photographers, he may be perceived as a spectator of life's drama. Actually, he and I are at the forefront, in the heat of the action. Without documentary photographers, history would not have a witness, someone to tell the story. Someone to remember the pain and suffering, the happiness and triumph.
