If ASI has to give away pizza to get students to listen to them then that's really sad.

Karen,

I think it's great that we gave students free pizza. I have also been enjoying actually saying what I feel lately.... :)So here it goes:

You're so critical of ASI but I don't see you running for office......hmmmm. Why don't you consider filling one of the vacant positions that students like yourself didn't run for? I promise you'll enjoy the experience as much as I did. Also, you'll get a better understanding of how much work the Board of Directors does but never gets credit for. As a Board of Directors this year, we were so excited to get out there and tell students all about ASI. To do that we decided we needed to be more visible so we held many events telling students about ASI like: Coffee and Conversation, over 7 ASI day's in the quad compared to an average of 4, multiple events that collaborated with different groups on campus, Earth Day, The Annual Turkey Bowl, Presidents Round Table (multiple times), two State of the Students (even putting one in the quad!), we even handed out free notebooks at the beginning of this semester that didn't come from student fee's! We made sure our students sat on University Committees in order to fulfill our vision of shared governance between students, faculty and administration. I myself sat on the University Union Board, the Multi-Cultural Center Board as the vice chair, University Enterprises Board, The Alumni Center Board, and I am chair of the Instructionally Related Activities Grant. Not to mention the once a month trips I take for meetings with the California State Student Association, the multiple meetings I have with students, administration and sometimes faculty in order to represent you as a student, and the numerous amount of speeches I had to prepare for, at least three times a week. The ASI voting Board of Directors is ALL students, just like you. I myself carried 19 units in the Fall and 22 units this spring, yet still was more active than just about any other President. I did all this because I care about what happens on our campus, I have school pride and I want to do more then give my input by commenting on a website. You sound very passionate about your comments but I suggest you turn that passion into something tangible and not just words that sit on this site. I hope you too will decide to give back to your campus community and other students by applying for a position on the ASI Board of Directors.

To see what positions are available you can visit ASI on the 3rd floor of the University Union, go to our website (www.asi.csus.edu) or just look at the postings we have in the Union. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me: asipresident@csus.edu

Also, you commented on another story on this site, it was about the way I responded to a student who was attacking my performance this year and ASI overall. Well after reading everything I did this year, hopefully you will cut me some slack and agree that I have earned my one honest comment for the year. ?

We the students of Sacramento State fund the entire ASI budget. The least they can do is give us free pizza once in awhile.

Question: Why do the fund 48% of all student athletics on campus? Do the athletic programs positively benefit 48% of the entire student body?

Reform, Reform, Reform. I think it's time to cut the ASI's budget in half.

Hey, if that's what you want to do then go to www.asi.csus.edu to apply for the ASI Board of Directors. If you're really serious about reform then be the change :)

Wow, Christina, you are taking 22 units this spring in addition to your duties as president of ASI? That's just amazing. A lot of late nights I would imagine? I took a lot of units last spring and barely got by with only a few extracurricular activities. I'd say it's been a job well done on your part this year. The visibility of ASI has definitely increased since the time I was freshman.

Hey Daniel,

Thank you so much for the positive feed back. It was a really hard semester but worth it. Ya, LOTS of late nights!! Sometimes it's dissapointing to work so hard for students and then not be appreciated, but that's life right? Everyone will always have something to say (sometimes constructive, sometimes not), but when you're doing it for the right reasons it's ALWAYS worth it. I had a good year :).

I also congratulate you on your hard work, but i think the $18,000 scholarship you received makes up for a lot of late nights and is a nice little feather in your cap.

I don't get it? Does the ASI president want a cookie for being a full-time student? I'm a full-time student that works full-time and u don't see me asking for props for my efforts.

You know who...

Christina,

I thought it was a wonderful idea to have the ASI Address in the quad. It's an obvious place to grab attention and increase the visibility of ASI.

Any reason why this logic was not applied to the recent ASI election debates? Perhaps we wanted them to receive less attention? Not stir up any opposition to the incumbent slate if we don't have to?

I'd love to hear an alternative to my own conspiracy theory...

ASI needs to address the $400,000 dollars that the Health Center will be getting in equipment which will increase our fees! But this ASI board doesn't care about the students because as they (ASI members) leave we (THE STUDENTS) get left with their bill.
