Scientists plot Earth's destruction

Abstract:
The newest agent for global fear is the Large Hadron Collider, or LHC, an atom-smashing, 17-mile-long donut of peril buried deep under the Swiss-French border....

What you're forgetting is that science has also cured many of the diseases out there.

Mankind has done many stupid things and this is one of the stupidest things that they can do. If they do accidently destroy the planet, it is not like punishing them would do any good. This is much worse than a weapon of mass destruction.

This is much more dangerous than terrorists or even nuclear missles. Mankind has proven that they can dextroy the planet with nuclear missles. Now it looks like they might do it by accident. This is the premise of the movie, Planet of the Apes.

Sometimes you read that they have things that go faster than the speed of light. Of course this is imaginary. Things can not go faster than the speed of light since at the speed of light, time stops. So it is extremely fast to have particles going at 99.99% the speed of light. Also at the speed of light, something with mass would have infintite mass.

Science can be used for both "good" and "evil"... It can be used to create more health and life or it can be used to destroy us completely.

WOW! I believe there is a way science can do this without destroying our planet... using implosion technology instead of explosion technology.. switching from death technology to Life technology

Holy mother batman. I knew there were some crazy peoples out there but I never guessed it would be this bad.

Scientist plot's earth destruction ? How many scientist do you know who aren't currently living on earth ? These peoples spend years studying their fields and you think some "concerned citizens" have a better grasps of what's going to happen than they do ? The arrogance is supreme.

The LHC is going to recreate conditions that occurs all the time in the upper atmosphere, the only difference being that with LHCthe result will be analyzed.

Black holes aren't going to be created and if they were they would have a life span of less than a micro second, we'd be very unlucky if they had the time to capture a stray atom of oxygen.
Black holes aren't Vaccuum cleaner, they only capture matter that enter their gravitational zone, a black hole created from two particules would have a gravitational zone so bloody small it wouldn't even be able to capture an whole atom.

"Science has been on a campaign to destroy the lives of so-called regular citizens for centuries" Riiiight, call the bloody asylum, what gave us elecriticity ? Light bulbs ? Computers ? Medication ? Filtering system for water ? yup, it's science. Science has increased the life span of humans, has allowed us to sstrive and reach a degree of knowledge and quality of life never before achieved, you might want to stop trying to chew the hand that feed you.

"Mankind has done many stupid things" oh yes, that's true, writing this article, fox news, anti vaccination campaign, gay persecution, the crusades. Building the LHC ? Not one of them.

"This is much more dangerous than terrorists or even nuclear missles." Completely wrong of course.

"Things can not go faster than the speed of light since at the speed of light, time stops." Actually, time doesn't stop once you reach the speed of light, the proof being that light travels.

"WOW! I believe there is a way science can do this without destroying our planet... using implosion technology instead of explosion technology.. switching from death technology to Life technology" Are you even for real ? You might want to look implosion in a dictionary. It has nothing to do with life, it's external pressure being so strong the object shatters and debris are projected toward the inside of the object, try going in a submarine below their operating limit and you'll see that ife isn't created by it.

Peoples need to start listening to peoples who know what they are talking about instead of insulting the expert and swallowing the bullshit given to them by uneducated journalist.
