I congratulate Ms. Hemsley for discovering that removal of cause is the only way to effectively deal with disease.

Regarding the article, I don't think it answered the question posed by its title. It was supposed to be about the 'spiritual' aspects of going raw, but as in almost all raw food articles, it ended up discussing the physiological benefits. I am not complaining, because this is as it should be. The so-called mental, emotional and 'spiritual' benefits of going raw are actually physiological. The brain's ability to function and perform is based on the quality of the bloodstream which feeds it. Why wouldn't a sluggish brain begin to function better when it is better fed? People who go raw also often talk about becoming more caring, compassionate, open and generous with their time and energy after they start eating healthfully. They connect these attributes to spirituality, but they are physical too. A body which no longer has to work 24 hours a day to eliminate inordinate quantities of indigestible waste from cooked and otherwise denature foods can easily produce enough energy not only for the person's normal activities but will also give that person enough energy to 'give away'. It takes energy to be interested in other people's problems or to have patience in dealing with your kids or spouse. Another consequence of the overwhelming of our bodies with unusable foods is that the body is constantly in jeopardy of not being able to continue to function properly. This is manifested in feelings of fear, trepidation, inhibition and insecurity that people experience and do not understand. When the body no longer has to carry that burden, the inexplicable anxiety goes away. Confusion, indecisiveness, social intimidation, depression and other unpleasant feelings fade as the body becomes healthier and builds self confidence that naturally springs from a body that trusts its ability to function. And all of this can only happen when we put into place the conditions under which health is optimized, including eating exclusively or primarily raw, biologically appropriate foods.

I also want to thank you for not mentioning the idea that the enzymes present in raw foods is a primary reason for eating them. This is a myth. The enzymes in foods have their own functions, like making a fruit change color or ripen or sweeten. They have nothing to do with the digestive enzymes in our bodies, which perform completely different functions. The benefits of eating raw foods have nothing to do with the enzymes in food, except that when you don't kill the enzymes, the other nutrients are intact as well and can be recognized and used by the body.

Thank you very much for the article. I encourage you to do more researching and writing on this topic.

Regards,
Nora

Corrections to the article.

I started exploring "Raw Foods" 6 years ago from the time this article was written. And While yes we put lot's of Agape into all we do, the low glycemic sweetener we use is Ultimate "Real Raw" Platinum Agave Nectar, the stuff they make Tequila out of.
