James Brown may have been the "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business," but in the world of punk rock, that title belongs to Danny Reynoso.
Whether on tour, in the classroom or on the radio, the 37-year-old has one goal in mind.

Late afternoon, sunlight illuminated the second-floor patio of the Sacramento State's University Union as four distinguishably different women met to talk about life, school and the principles their organization was founded upon. The different backgrounds and upbringings seem to have no effect on what these women have been brought together to do - help teach and lead young women under the gospel of the Bible.
Other than the sororities trademark colors, purple and white, one thing stood out and remained constant and that was the concept of sisterhood. It exuded from them as they greeted each other with laughter, warm smiles and hugs.

When it's still dark and chilly outside, Joseph Owens wakes up at 5 a.m. to work the morning shift at Java City inside of the Sacramento State University Union. Some students cringe when thinking about peeling the covers off at this time of the day. This may seem like an unnatural time to get up, but Owens pulls it off. He's doesn't wake up on his own though. Like most students, he needs something to wake him up in the wee hours of the morning. (0) comments
I'm convinced. People have way more than two faces. This week was basically, 'let's bash on certain people then blame other individuals for the bashing!' Poor Parisa was the target of the week as Dunbar and Trisha couldn't decide who spoke what gossip about her. We hear one thing come out of Trisha's mouth and suddenly, we're being told it came out of Dunbar's. Confused? Yeah, me too. (3) comments
With big-name stars Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner, "The Kingdom" is the biggest Hollywood film to date that covers America's modern-day involvement in the Middle East. Directed by actor-turned-director Peter Berg, "The Kingdom" is an action-packed thriller filled with realistic, terrorist mayhem. Berg, who also directed "Friday Night Lights," once again shows his skill in filming high-speed, intense scenes. (0) comments
Scheduled start time for the Justin Timberlake concert: 7:30 a.m. Fans waited anxiously just to hear his voice. At 8:30 p.m. concert goers became restless and weary; and started saying things like "Did you read the tickets right, are you sure it was 7:30?" and "Is he coming?" At 9 p.m. he finally shows up! Amidst the screaming and euphoria, you could almost hear everyone's hearts just drop once Timberlake took the stage. The crowd had so much energy and excitement throughout his entire show it was hard to keep up; the ambiance at Arco Arena was truly one of a kind on Tuesday night. (3) comments

But do you have a professional résumé ready to submit to employers? You just might be the perfect person for the job, but if you cannot demonstrate this point through your résumé then your chances of landing that dream job could be significantly impaired. Canadian director David Cronenberg has once again crafted an excellent movie with his "A History of Violence" leading man Viggo Mortensen. "Eastern Promises" delivers on its promises of being a ruthless mob film and a solid thriller. The film follows Anna Khitrova, a London midwife played by Naomi Watts, who discovers a diary in the purse of a young woman who has just died giving birth to a baby girl. In an effort to find the rest of the baby's family, she tries to decipher the diary, written in Russian. (0) comments
Let's get ready to rumble!
"Punk Slam" takes a flying leap off the top rope and lands center ring at the University Union Ballroom Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Combining what drummer Danny Secretion calls "two of the finer things in life - punk rock and pro wrestling," local bands No Admission, Final Summation, and the Secretions hope to keep the crowd's fists pumping in between WWE-style wrestling matches.

"Saturday Night Live" has had its share of ups and downs. For every Eddie Murphy, there's always a Jimmy Fallon - laughing his way through every skit - to keep the show grounded.
Unfortunately for the current cast, the show has been teetering on awful since Will Ferrell left.
Entering its 33rd season last Saturday, the current cast and crew of SNL are hoping to be a little more "Chevy Chase" and less "Horatio Sanz."

Disabled students, retention programs, graduating seniors, seniors classified graduates, juniors, sophomores, freshmen and unclassified seniors; does this list mean anything to you? Well it should because it is the order in which registration dates are determined. Students reaching the end of their time in college find that the minimal amount of upper division class sections being offered each semester is the biggest nuisance. (0) comments
Hi, my name is Jake Corbin, and I'm a procrastinator. Like many of you who read this, I tend to do just about anything - scratch that - everything before getting started on schoolwork. Apparently, NBC feels I'm not the only one, because they chose to blast the site with advertising for their new action-comedy "Chuck." (0) comments
It seemed that the only thing the Foo Fighters have been fighting against over the past decade was fading into obscurity. Their most recent releases, including 2005's double CD "In Your Honor," failed to live up to the media hype. By far, the best songs on those albums were the songs that were released as singles. For their sixth album, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," the Foo Fighters have once again teamed up with producer Gil Norton, whom they last worked with on their groundbreaking album, 1997's "The Colour and the Shape." Perhaps this reunion was just what the Foo Fighters needed to successfully return to form. (0) comments
Will.i.am, member of the group Black Eye Peas just released his solo album on Tuesday entitled "Songs about Girls". Coming true to the CD's title, a majority of the songs have to do about girls, but his songs are not for me. (0) comments
Have you ever been online, seen the advertisements for those dating websites, and thought to yourself, "I would never be able to trust the people I meet online; they might claim to be one way, but turn out to be completely different in person," or something along those lines?
Your feelings about trusting a complete stranger might change if you met that person face-to-face at a dating event, much like the Meet Market.
This Friday, local radio station 107.9 The End is hosting its sixth-ish, not-so-annual Meet Market at the Radisson Hotel located off of Highway 160 at the Canterbury Road exit, for singles 21-and-up who want to try mingling or finding "The One" in a different setting.

I am no authority on the art of producing television shows, but who in their right mind thought the Geico cavemen were worthy of a sitcom? Creativity in L.A. is officially dying.
"Cavemen," which airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC, centers around blue-collar caveman Joel and his know-it-all friend Nick. The two are part of a dying breed - the caveman - in a largely Homosapien world.

Pass the salt? Oh, by the way, pass the boy. I am not a fan of sharing, regardless of how cute a guy's accent is. This episode was kind of nasty. Lots of spit swapping and lip-lock action. And it only involved three people. And one of them wasn't Shauvon! Score! (0) comments
He's a father, a husband and a writer. But he's also tackling a taboo subject at a university: atheism.
"If a philosophy class isn't making you uncomfortable, it's not doing its job." said Matthew McCormick, an associate professor of philosophy.

For the third year in a row, Sacramento State students have been invited to participate in a paid teaching program at the Chitralada Royal Palace School in Bangkok, Thailand.
Communication Studies Professor Thomas Knutson said he believes the experience is invaluable for students, as it will prepare them for life in the "global village." He said students will not only learn to appreciate other cultures, but will gain a new understanding and appreciation of their own.

As students lay their heads down to rest, an uncertain feeling might come over them as they catch a glimpse of a complete stranger several feet away, snoring ridiculously loud. Right about now, the tightest of living quarters would make a closet feel welcoming.
The narrow rooms that are being described are the Sacramento State dormitories. Sac State dorm rooms have been described by some as compact, and students are sharing stories of their rooming experiences and being away from home and their parents for the first time.

All college students are working toward graduating and starting a career in the field of their choice. They attend classes, read textbooks and write papers, but when do students learn the rules about dressing for the job they want? How do they make the transition from jeans, T-shirts and flip-flops to blouses and slacks? Students and professors agree that fashion in the workplace is not something that is particularly stressed in the classroom. (1) comment
Winners of Sacramento State's first Battle of the Bands, Righteous Movement will perform in a free show on campus today at noon in the Serna Plaza. Natives of Sacramento, the band said it hopes to bring a whole spectrum of hip-hop to the current state of hip-hop culture. Influenced by artists such as Nas, Rakim, De-La-Soul and 2Pac, the group said it feels its versatility enables them to conquer a variety of styles found in both old-school and modern-day hip-hop culture. Fast-forward to 2007, an era where sitcoms come and go with the blink of an eye. Most actors are lucky to make it big once, let alone mount a comeback. "Back To You," which airs on Fox at 8:00 p.m., marks the return of Kelsey Grammer("Cheers" "Frasier") and Patricia Heaton ("Everybody Loves Raymond") to television as the anchor team of Pittsburgh's own WURG-9 News. As if it was straight out of a horror film, you slowly see the minute hand of the clock on your wall straddle across the 12 with the hour-hand firmly set on the 10. The two-hour rush of network reality TV programming has just ended and Sportscenter is on its third consecutive replay. Then seconds later, you get a text from your buddy Omar. "Party is cancelled!"
This is about the time when you realize that have reached the proverbial purgatory of Student life - the Zone-of-Boredom (ZOB).

This morning, a black semi truck pulling a 53-foot trailer with big bold white letters that read "ROCK BAND," pulled on to campus. Sacramento State students, whether observing or passing by, detoured into the lure and glamour of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. It's not too often that students get to walk onto campus in the morning and wonder whether or not Optimus Prime is parked in front of the new Hornet Bookstore. As the truck opened up, it transformed into a stage. (0) comments
For those of you not into the whole Emo/Screamo deal or the Indie thing, there is something refreshingly different and much more laid back. Sure they've been around for a while, but ska and reggae are still strong and there are some very solid bands still churning out records today. Two of those bands, The Supervillains and Slightly Stoopid, are heading to Empire this Sunday to give Sacramento what will most likely be an awesome show. Miles Doughty, lead singer and guitarist of Slightly Stoopid, give us an insight of the band and their upcoming show. (0) comments
When you arrive, you get the feeling that this old wild west joint has seen some crazy nights.
Fanny Ann's Saloon in Old Sacramento will knock your socks off.
It's like a feast for the senses and a mix of things old and new when you first walk in. You can smell the good old American hamburgers right away. You can see the collection of old license plates and signs nailed to the wall, the sepia tone photos from the 1800s, the old bicycles and toy wagons that hang from the ceiling and lots of Americana memorabilia that fill the cluttered walls.

Go to Google or Yahoo! and search for anything in relation to "getting women." You will find millions of links ranging from "Getting Women to Approach You" to "Getting Women to Obsess Over You." Not that it is news, but getting women is what men are all about. However, for some reason, people here at Sacramento State believe this is an obstacle most men must overcome. (0) comments
