It's the time of year when people celebrate the African-American and Pan-African holiday, Kwanzaa. But the cultural holiday that celebrates family, community and culture could be on the brink of disappearance.
Kwanzaa is not the first holiday that comes to mind in the for several Sacramento State students who agree they do not hear much about the celebration.

It's not uncommon for someone to say "Happy Holidays" and then have thoughts of Christmas trees and Santa Claus come to mind. But Christmas isn't the only holiday celebrated during this season.
While some Sacramento State students may celebrate the birth of Christ this year, other students may be participating in the Jewish holiday known as Hanukkah.

It's that time of the year again. Christmas is right around the corner; and just when students think that they're free from the stress of finals they are confronted by the dreaded list, the dreaded Christmas shopping list.
So how do students shop for Christmas without having to worry about affording next semester's tuition?

For most seniors, graduating is the light at the end of a long tunnel. Some seniors have two weeks left before they wear the cap and gown, while some have one more semester before they walk across the stage.
But there is one thing that makes graduating difficult for seniors: that nagging thought in the back of their heads telling them to skip class, or the little devil on their shoulder telling them to procrastinate on their homework. It's that little thing called senioritis.

Orchestra conductor Leo Eylar waves his baton, directing the rise and fall of the violin's bows, the horns, wind instruments and the steady beat of the percussion. An ensemble of more than 30 student musicians play their various instruments, each focused on his or her sheet music in Capistrano Hall.
For two hours twice a week, the Sacramento State Orchestra has been preparing for its winter concert on Tuesday. The concert will feature guest violin soloist, Bill Barbini. But don't expect to hear "Jingle Bells" at this concert. The orchestra has been practicing pieces such as "The Flying Dutchman," "Violin Concerto in D minor by Korngold" and "The Scottish Symphony."

In a world of mp3's and satellite radio, it's no wonder why many Sacramento State students don't know much about the student-run radio station on campus.
With a staff comprised of nearly 60 students and volunteers this semester, the station has worked toward building crucial partnerships that focus on improving the station, said Robert Young, KSSU station manager and Sac State media communication graduate student.

The Golden Compass is my favorite young adult fantasy story. It's all about growing up and rebelling - with a little physics theory thrown in.
The film version, released this weekend to a deservedly lukewarm $26 million in ticket sales, opened to controversy after the Catholic League decided to boycott it. In the series, God--aka "The Authority"-- is the major villain. Here, the references to God have been changed to the more obscure "Magisterium" - a church that tells people how to think.

Holidays are here and people are gearing up to hang their decorations and start picking out their trees. Christmas also means that it is the season of giving, so it is also time to pick up a gift or some canned-food to help the ones in need.
On Monday, in the Sacramento State University Union Redwood Room, students from ASI did a food and toy drive for families in need.

Who knew cardboard could be used in more ways than boxes?
For Sacramento State students, cardboard was the main ingredient that went into "The Chair Show," a collection of artistic chairs made out of cardboard that is on display in Mariposa Hall through Nov. 19.

A handful of people from the crowd got either impatient or confused with the film and left within the first 10 minutes of the movie; apparently the action didn't come soon enough for them.
Atonement starts out a little abstract and surreal; all of the dreadful small details are highlighted, making you think "What is this movie really about?"

For most of us, being 16 was a difficult time filled with raging hormones, strict parents, boring classes and trouble with relationships. Life as a 16-year-old for Juno MacGuff has all the same difficulties and more; she's pregnant.
"Juno," a Fox Searchlight film, takes a comedic look at how complicated life can become after an unplanned pregnancy.

Most Sacramento State students do not have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. But unfortunately, there are people out there who do.
So Sac State is hosting the 2007 State Employees' Food Drive from Nov. 19 through Dec. 21.

Papers, exams and projects all mark the end of a semester. For most students who preparing for finals this time of year, writing a 450-page novel isn't on their list of things to do. But junior English major Krysta Tawlks has been there, done that.
In six months, Tawlks, who is from Folsom, wrote her first self-published novel "Drag' n Seeks" in the middle of her semester at Sacramento State.

Get someone to rent out my room, check. Find a carsitter, check. Make the rounds to see family and friends, check. See a major advisor, check.
This is what John Arndt's, a sophomore international business and economics major, to-do list looks like for the next couple of months. He hopes to complete his list before he takes off on a journey to study abroad. His destination is currently unknown, yet Arndt is going to do some research before he makes the final decision of where to study. He's currently debating between Italy, Germany and Mexico right now.

Graduation application: check and double-checked. Cap, gown and tassel: bought. Announcements: sent. Passing classes to ensure graduation: as long as I keep that "C" in Statistics; senioritis is a killer.
The big day is coming and these last few weeks are shaping up to be stressful ones. The pressure is mounting, you have finals to study for and you're going half-crazy making sure all the proper paperwork is in. Don't worry, though, it will all be over soon. Before it is, however, here are a few (more) loose ends to tie up before graduation day.

When you are hungry and you're looking for a place that is good with good prices, Dad's Deli is the place to go.
Located on 1310 S St. in downtown Sacramento Dad's deli specializes in different sandwiches. It is a small building with a light blue color, with paintings of skeletons eating big sandwiches; and if skeletons are eating their food, it has to be scrumptious.

Light, hip and fun, that's just what downtown needs. The entrance is small and unnoticeable but what lies inside is modern mixed with elegance.
Parlare Euro lounge is something of a hybrid. It can easily go from restaurant to bar to nightclub in just a few easy steps.
Upon entering, you are automatically greeted with pure, unadulterated sexiness but not in a raunchy sort of way. The dim lighting, candles and ambiguous music help set the mood for what may be a romantic dinner, quick drink or a night on the town with the girls.

It starts with fresh baked sourdough bread, warm chicken and melted Swiss cheese, juicy slices of bacon, mayonnaise and lettuce, even avocado and tomatoes, if that's what you're into.
You take that first bite and immediately know you will be satisfied by the Chicken Club, one of three hot sandwiches on the menu at Boudin SF located at 2573 Fair Oaks Blvd.

If you are a man, chances are you really don't know what you're doing. If you are a woman, chances are you really don't do it enough.
I am talking about two of the most eloquent words in the sexual dictionary: fellatio and cunnilingus. Oral sex is an often talked about issue, but how much importance does it really have?
