In response to recent tragedies, Sacramento State has begun updating its emergency response system that officials say will allow for more effective communication on campus.
Sac State's University Police Sgt. Kelly Clark and Vice President of Information, Resources and Technology Vince Gilbert said the campus is currently implementing a mass notification emergency response system. Clark said the first stage of the system should be completed by Saturday.

After growing up in a family on welfare, Sacramento State junior Brittney Henry hopes to promote education among low-income families as Miss Sacramento County 2008. Henry, 20, competed against 14 other women before being crowned Miss Sacramento County 2008 on Feb. 2 in the annual competition. "I think it's very important to give a voice to atheists on campus considering the fact that theism is the default, normal position," Owen said.

The cause of the smoke was a heating and air conditioning unit in room 3044. The room is an office of the Center for California Studies.

Sacramento State Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Tarvish Felton pled no contest to driving under the influence today in Sacramento County Superior Court.
Felton was charged with a misdemeanor for driving with a 0.12 blood alcohol concentration level.
