The WAC and Pac-10 collided as the Hornet baseball team went to Berkeley Tuesday and shocked No. 12 California by a score of 12-6 at Evans Diamond. The Bears' pitching staff could not retire Hornets' senior third baseman David Flores as he put on a hitting clinic, going 4 for 4. He hit three singles to go along with one double - setting the school record for career doubles in the process at 39 - he also crossed the plate three times and drove in two RBIs. (0) comments
Senior gymnast Melissa Genovese likes to have fun inside the gym and out. The El Dorado Hills native is committed to having a good time no matter what activity she is doing.
A self-proclaimed fun-loving person, Genovese enjoys a variety of activities when she is not competing in gymnastics.

The varsity eight (7:01.8), second varsity eight (7:04.7), novice eight (7:39.7), varsity four A (7:56.6) and varsity four B (8:04.2) won their races in the Sacramento State Rowing Invitational on Saturday at Lake Natoma.

People also join fantasy league pools trying to earn bragging rights. The consensus favorite is North Carolina in most polls but 2008 won't be a year for a juggernaut like North Carolina or UCLA to win.

Chemistry in sports can prove to be one of the greatest advantages for athletes working together.
In college tennis the teams play doubles matches and the best of three earns a point, which is crucial especially in close matches since only seven total points are possible.

The biggest men in the sporting event are taking the field. However, with some key losses to the team, they will have to depend on more than excitement.
The men's team is overcoming obstacles this year with the loss of three potential Big Sky qualifiers and one NCAA qualifier. Due to injury and academics, the athletes were unable to compete this year.

Sacramento State Recreational Sports held its annual Basketball Blowout & Intramural Basketball All-Star Night on Saturday at Yosemite Hall.
The Basketball Blowout is a Rec Sport special event designed to showcase the skills of the best players of the five-on-five basketball intramurals and kick off the intramural playoffs, which begin this week, and will continue through the rest of March.

The Sacramento State racquetball team recently received approval for $1,500 in Dollars for Organizations & Clubs funding through ASI to attend the 36th USA Racquetball National Intercollegiate Championship. There has been a lot of excitement for the Sac State Hornets going into their outdoor season as they swept both men's and women's indoor conference championship.
"The team put it together at the right when it counted the most and it was an exciting event. I am really glad of the outcome," coach Kathleen Raske said.

The departure of Jerome Jenkins leaves a big hole for the Sac State men's basketball team, but improving on what Jenkins started shouldn't be terribly difficult. Jenkins had some success on the bench, but he never led the team to a finish that was better than .500. The Hornets need someone with a proven track record who can revitalize a program that has failed to generate much excitement on campus throughout the years.
