Going the distance

Distance runners on the track and field team run more than 50 miles a week

Going the distance

This year the Sacramento State track team has been leading conference competition from the beginning of the season to the present.

A big reason for the team's success is that distance runners have stepped up and emerged as conference leaders. The athletes do not receive the glory that sprinters receive, but they still go the extra mile - literally. (0) comments

Cook Leads in the Water

The women's rowing practice has the energy level similar to that of a championship basketball game. Many would agree that the reason for the constant upbeat attitude, so rare in a group of 50 women, is due, in no small part, to one of the team's youngest varsity members: Kellie Cook. (0) comments

Too many experts
Justin Tejada

I sense belligerence in the air. It must be that time of year again. Y'know, where all the stat-junkies and die-hard team fanatics come out to parlay mock teams and trade grades and percentiles instead of blows. Then again, I have borne witness to some of these sessions ending up in fisticuffs, but I digress. When it comes to the NFL, it revolves around three events: the Super Bowl, the Combine and the Draft. (1) comment

Hornets pray before games

It was back on March 29, after winning the first game of a double-header against the Hawaii Rainbows, 6-4, that a dozen Hornet baseball players made a circle with their arms interlocked minutes before the start of the second game. Senior second baseman Taylor Watanabe held a Bible as he read an excerpt from its pages to his teammates. (1) comment
