Popgun remains a true local treasure
The aptly titled local band brought their pop to the True Love Coffeehouse last week, and we were there to review it!

Popgun is a modest, Sacramento band with lots of love to give. Last Saturday night on a small and crowded True Love Coffeehouse stage, the band proved how much love they had. Popgun never hesitated to interact with the crowd they were playing to.
Their sound is something that can be heard in several Sacramento pop bands, including the Groovy Goulies and Go National, which is both a good and bad thing. Although Popgun is lyrically unique, they seem hard to set apart from other local musicians, especially when it comes to their stage show.
On the other hand, fans of the band have quite a different opinion on their music. A neutral listener, Cliff Crimson, described the sound of Popgun as being, "happy, but not stupid happy, with a good overall sound."
The Sacramento natives played songs from all three of their records, which included "Radio Down" and "Naked." They explained that their newest album was the most enjoyable to make and, according to lead singer Mark Harrod, "It rocked more!" Popgun's first two albums have each reaceived a Sammy Award (the Sacramento music awards), and the foursome hope their newest release will be no exception when it comes to award-pickin' time.

She did a pretty lame job at putting our quotes in the correct context. Candice, SARCASM...ever heard of it! We don't give a crap about the SAMMY Awards, we didn't say this was the most enjoyable album to make, there are 5 of us and we are not Sac natives. (Continued…)
