The Associated Students Inc. board of directors discussed Vice President of Finance Tiffany Huang's budget proposal for the 2007-08 academic year Wednesday in the University Union's Foothill Suite.
The proposal notes changes from 2006-07 to 2007-08.
The budget will be further discussed May 9 at the working board meeting and voted on May 16 at the board meeting.
ASI board of directors voted in favor of providing an extra $500 of Dollars for Organizations and Clubs funding to the Sacramento State student organization that participates as a Safe Rides volunteer for at least five nights.
"…Only a small handful of student groups out of approximately 250 take advantage of the opportunity to increase their DOC eligibility by $500 in working six nights over the course of the academic year," Huang stated in her legislation to the ASI board of directors.
Huang said there are not enough groups participating right now.
"So far we've only had three groups that have actually gotten the increase for eligibility through DOC," she said.
She said the intention is to increase the number of volunteers, not turn them away.
The $500 will be in addition to $1,500 student organizations already receive from DOC funding each year.
A proposal by Director and Chief International Officer of Global Education Jack Godwin to reallocate money within the ASI budget for the International Students Program was approved by ASI.
In his recommendation to Huang, Godwin recommended reallocating a total of $400.15: $325.15 from printing and $75 from publications and subscriptions. The amount will be distributed to memberships and dues within its budget of $5,500, as Huang documented.
