Down a metal elevator is the entrance to Sacramento State's University Theatre basement, the alleged home of the theater's resident ghost. Props take up much of the room in the basement. Old chandeliers, Victorian dressers and outlines of people painted and cut out from wood are just some of the items stored in the dark room. In the far back corner of the basement is the theater's coffin collection. It is easy to see the "haunted" nature of the place.
Sac State's Technical Director Richard Stockton said he can see why people believe the theater is haunted - especially those whom he said have an overactive imagination.

It is often hard to balance laugh out loud comedy with serious and meaningful drama that does not have one outweighing the other. However, in his directorial follow up to "Pieces of April," Peter Hedges has a perfect balance in "Dan In Real Life" as he exposes how family can bring us both serenity while driving us to complete insanity.
Throw together a bizarre love-triangle involving two brothers with a family reunion and you will have "Dan In Real Life."

Midterms are in full effect, your current job is switching your hours from part time to full time and when was the last time you sat down to have a meal?
The semester is stressful to say the least and sometimes you just want to blow off class, go home and take a nap. Before you do that, be sure to check out Mellow Me Out Day Spa located on the first floor of the University Union.

"Area: Blurring the lines" is an eccentric collection of artwork all rolled into one exhibition, and into one room for that matter. Inside the lonely back room called "the main gallery," the only sign of life is the moving artwork.
The gallery is located inside of the library on campus, so one would think as a result of all of the foot traffic in the building that students would eventually trail in, get curious and check it out, but this wasn't at all I discovered.

Do you get butterflies in your stomach and a shaky voice when you deliver a speech? Do you hide in the back when it comes time to take charge of the group? Did you know this seemingly normal behavior could cost you the career of your dreams?
Communication and leadership skills are two of the most important attributes employers look for in their employees.

Amanda Folendorf said she lives in two worlds. In one world, she speaks to communicate with others. In the other world, she uses American Sign Language to communicate. Spend just a few moments with Folendorf, a junior Sacramento State government major, and you might find that she exemplifies both worlds simultaneously. This is part of what recently earned Folendorf the title of Miss Deaf California 2007 to 2009.
"I need things in the hearing world and the deaf world," she said. "I'll never fully be deaf or hearing. I can go back and forward."

Imagine your doctor saying four simple words: "You have breast cancer." With more than 40,000 women who lose their fight against the disease each year, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. Despite the dark side of the disease there is a story of courage and hope. (0) comments
Though it has been at Sacramento State for over 10 years, the doors have not been opened by students. The atmosphere is nice with soft music playing in the background, while the tables are dressed for an elegant vibe so a person can just sit and enjoy themselves.
The University Center Restaurant, located right across the way from Round Table, serves breakfast and lunch for all to enjoy. As food is an attracting topic to college students, its quite rare to see many students eating at the restaurant.

When a child creates a work of art, parents and teachers celebrate it. But the Associated Students Inc. Children's Center directors believe everyone should be able to celebrate, and decided to do something about it.
The center is participating in the Worldwise Education's Artwork for Education Fundraiser, a program that converts children's artwork into greeting cards in hopes of raising money for the center's programs.

Some Sacramento State students appreciate "real" underground hip-hop. But what does that sound like?
The Cap City Culture Concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the University Union is supposed to be just that. The free show will feature some of the best masters of ceremonies, disc jockeys and breakdancers that Cap City, or the Capital City, has to offer. Sponsored by KSSU 1580 AM, PVS Radio and UNIQUE, the concert will feature performances by local hip-hop groups including Addict Merchants, Live Manikins and Neighborhood Watch.

Bryan Adams once sang,
"I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more...
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you."
When most people hear that song, they either think about how good of a love song it is, or how cheesy it is. What most people do not realize is that Adams is really singing about sex here.
