For some unexplainable reason, people on campus don't trust the relationship between E. Follett or University Enterprises Inc. Maybe it is because the students feel textbook prices in the bookstore are insulting compared to Internet prices, or it could be because the non-profit UEI stands behind its legal shield which enables it took keep its financial secrecy. In a world where the economy is plummeting, race is playing a front role in this year's election, and people are losing their jobs on the daily, it's important to keep your priorities straight. (1) comment

Did you go out and vote in the Associated Students Inc. elections last week? Of course you didn't. It didn't matter that there were signs posted all over campus, debates were held and The State Hornet even took the time to interview and endorse candidates - the voter turnout somehow managed to be lower than last year. Rush Limbaugh revisited

To clear up any confusion

No, this column is not written completely in satire, or trying to be funny - instead, it runs off nothing but cold hard facts about Mr. Limbaugh, and what he has said over the years.

There is evidence and proof below of why Limbaugh is a bigoted, racist, homophobic, non-educated hypocrite. He has no formal education or training in broadcasting, journalism or communications. (12) comments

The threat of a gunman walking on campus and opening fire has become an all-too-real facet of the college experience.

The Virginia Tech shooting is just one of several horrible incidents that has left students and faculty members wondering, "Is my school going to be next?" (18) comments

Over the past four months the network news channels have let me down, filling my view of those organizations with deep-rooted pessimism and a disgust of our current presidential primary process. (1) comment

When teachers are encouraged to refer to a student's failure as "deferred success," something is amiss. Political correctness has gone too far.

Because of political correctness, we as a society collectively tiptoe around how we really feel about social issues. It's because of political correctness that all Little Leaguers get a trophy and an abortion clinic will never have the slogan, "We bring out the kid in you." (5) comments

Political correctness - two of the most reviled words in our society's lexicon. It's hip and cool to be anti-PC, like being anti-establishment or wearing a T-shirt featuring some old-school rock band like the Eagles or AC/DC. Everyone says they hate it, but the truth is that it's completely necessary. (2) comments

The first part of the article addressed in print is a portrait of me as a teen struggling with weight issues and unhealthy eating habits. It's a horrible feeling growing up as the 'fat kid' but the impending effects of continuing such eating habits accompanied with lack of physical exercise is much more lethal. (1) comment

Editor's note: This is a two-part column. Part two will be available on The State Hornet website Thursday.

I remember riding in the back seat of my mom's car. I said, "Look mommy! What's that afar?" We quickly ordered from the menu and ate happily. I then looked at her again and said, "Can we get more, more, more please?" (0) comments

The Supreme Court recently allowed the state of Indiana to continue enforcing a law that requires voter identification to be necessary when citizens place their votes at the polls. However, Democrats argue that it is unconstitutional because it limits people's abilities to vote. Republicans argue that it is necessary to prevent voter fraud. (1) comment
