Research, explore, develop, refine, implement - the creative process. It's what went into the fliers passed out for the Design Department's Spring Show; it was the vehicle for every single student's portfolio, and it is the theme celebrated at 6 p.m. (0) comments
The end of the semester is almost here, and that also means that other things are coming to a close for now, too. The last nooner put on by UNIQUE this semester will be today in Serna Plaza. It will feature Red Host, a local band made of three individuals: Chelsea Wolfe, Jess Gowrie and Ian Bone. (0) comments
In a world of female artists like Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne and even Rihanna, there is a refreshing new artist that has emerged, Charlotte Sometimes. "Waves and the Both of Us" is the debut album for the artist (whose real name is Jessica Charlotte Poland), and is filled with Sometimes' eclectic and beautiful voice. (1) comment
From First to Last just released their third and self-titled album on May 6th. The album offers eleven tracks filled with hard-core metal that will no doubt get you to start head banging. The new album spawned after a series of trials. Former lead singer Sonny Moore left the band after some health issues. (0) comments
Most Sacramento State students have grown up with some form of the Japanese culture seeping into their lives, unknowingly or not. "The Ninja Turtles," "Shogun" and the classic California sushi roll are all familiar to the average non-Japanese student. (0) comments
Sacramento State junior and author Kacey Kuebler has sold approximately 500 copies of her first book, "The Forest Singer: Earth Magic," this semester. May is here, and that means that it is time again for graduation. But before you get ready to walk, there are things that must be done, and a few other things that are just for fun and for the sake of memories. Graduation means the end of schooling and heading into the job market, and finding a job that you both went to school for and love can be nerve-wracking. (0) comments

The band Elbow has been around for a while, 17 years to be exact. "The Seldom Seen Kid" is the band's newest album. I have not heard any of their other work but I found this CD to be very thoughtful and slow. (0) comments
Contemporary. Modern. Jazz. Tap. Hip-Hop. These are all types of dance and present the movement of the human form in artistic ways. Sacramento State's Theatre and Dance Department hosted the 2008 senior dance concert, "Impact," an annual production highlighting the choreographic works of the department's graduating students from May 7 through Saturday. Living a Greek life is fun, full of traditions and full of food. No, I'm not talking about being in a Sacramento State fraternity or sorority. I'm talking about speaking Greek, eating traditional Greek foods and learning the culture. I'm talking about the sort of things you saw in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." (0) comments
Eric Hutchinson's lyrics are well written and understandable. The music he creates with his acoustic guitar is infectious-it'll make you want to air guitar while listening to his album "Sounds Like This." The album is groovy and kind of sounds like the blues, but will definitely put you in a happy mood with the mellow strumming of Hutchinson's guitar. (1) comment
Let me describe Big Spoon Yogurt in five toppings: brownie, caramel, cookie dough, hot fudge, and apple pie filling goodness. Big Spoon gives dessert goers a creative and alternative way of getting their yum on. (0) comments
