Gymnastics avenges loss to San Jose State

The Sacramento State gymnastics team pulled off a big comeback against San Jose State Friday night at the Hornets Nest.

The Hornets nailed their highest score of the season with a 193.200.

Sac State freshman Melissa Genovese had the highest score of the meet with the first place score in beam of 9.875.

As a big boost of confidence for the team, the Hornets also took the top three spots in uneven bars. Alexis Tsurumoto tied her career high of 9.850 with her win on the bars.

Seniors Stephanie Aeder and Nirvana Zaher won first and second on the floor with scores of 9.775 and 9.725, respectively.

The only competitor in all-around for the Hornets, Carrie Kinghorn, finished the meet in fourth with a 36.900.

Sac State is back in action next Friday at UC Davis at 7 p.m.
