• Develops relationship with sources, including ASI, fraternities, clubs, administration, etc..
• Prepares weekly “mojo” calendar and staffs blocks on the schedule.
• Reports during “mojo” shifts when they can’t be staffed.
• Suggests expansion of “mojo” stories into full-length, extended stories for print.
• Coordinates assignments for assigned section with writers and photographers.
• Edits stories and coaches reporters.
• Conducts thorough staff meetings with news editor.
• Ensures staff members stay in class during entire duration, spending time coaching writers once staff meetings are completed.
• Participates in staff meetings and online editorial board meetings.
• Keeps track of whether writers meet deadlines.
• Evaluates news writers on weekly basis, with a formal evaluation after the fourth, eighth and final edition with the help of the news editor and news assistant editor.
